| Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Matthew Dellavedova (8) drives against Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade (left). |
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellevadova will not play in tonight's game after suffering a knee injury in last night's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Chris Haynes reports.
Cavs officials have said that he injured his leg during the loss to the Trail Blazers last night and have not set a timetable for his return.
Dellavedova has been one of head coach David Blatt's go-to players so far in this early season, seeing plenty of minutes down the stretch. He has averaged 2.7 points per game and 2.3 assists per game, but has played good defense and has shown plenty of effort, which is the reason that Blatt has favored him in crunch time over Dion Waiters.
With Dellavedova out, the Cavs backup point guard will be Will Cherry, who was recently signed by the Cavs after playing for their summer league team. Also expect Waiters to see more minutes in place of Dellavedova. Waiters has not lived up to his hype this year, averaging just 8.3 points per game on 33.3 percent shooting from the field.
